We have found sliders are a great option for late night dinners. They cook up quickly on our George Foreman Grill and are perfect for adults and hungry teens alike (of course the teen eats lots more of them then we do). I found a good recipe on epicurious.com for Bombay Sliders with Garlic Curry Sauce. Ginger, cumin, green onions and cilantro mixed with ground turkey provided the basis for the burgers; while curry mixed with mayo, yogurt and ketchup the topping. When Anthony ate these he remarked it was like an ‘Indian hamburger’.
I served this with a nice side dish of Cucumber Yogurt Salad from Simply Recipes. This site, created by Elise Bauer, is a new favorite of mine. One thing I really like about this blog is how she has organized the content. By using the navigation menu on the left to narrow your choices, you arrive at a page of thumbnail pictures and associated descriptions of hundreds of dishes. This is a literal feast for the eyes! When I did this I came across the following description of a cucumber salad: “Cucumber yogurt tzatziki, a simple salad of peeled, sliced cucumbers, yogurt, dill, and salt and pepper. To accompany spicy dishes.” This was exactly the type of side that I was looking for to pair with the Bombay Sliders. The fact that I could make it ahead of time was perfect too, so at dinner time all I had to do was worry about the sliders. Thank you Elise!
